It is a brilliant feeling when an older album completely blindsides you. I knew their reputation as post-punk pioneers, but actually hearing this record from start to finish was a revelation. It instantly earned a spot in my personal top 10 albums of all time.
The album is a masterclass in tension, blending heavy, driving rhythms with surprisingly melodic new wave hooks. It manages to feel both massive and incredibly focused.
The song captures an intense sense of urban isolation and nocturnal restlessness. It perfectly bottles that feeling of wandering through the dark, trying to find your place in a world that feels slightly detached.
Night Time is a phenomenal balance of grit and atmosphere. I might have taken a few decades to finally get here, but I haven't been able to stop playing it since.
