The Asus TUF FX505DT Gaming Laptop & Ingenie Designs

After years of using 2nd hand hardware and hand me down PC parts, I finally decided to invest in myself. Ingenie Designs is now powered by an ASUS TUF Gaming PC, and although I don’t game much, if at all, the power in this Laptop is fantastic for some of the Media Creation tasks I will be putting it through.

The Specs

This laptop features an AMD Ryzen Processor with 8GB RAM and an NVIDIA GTX1650 Graphics Card. The Hard Drive in this Laptop is a 512GB NVMe Drive. This is the fastest machine I have ever used.

The Display on this laptop is a 1920x1080P display at 15.6″ It’s LED Backlit, with a Refresh Rate of 144hz. I still feel like I’m adjusting to the Refresh Rate, as things like mouse movement seem faster. The display on this laptop is crystal clear with great colour representation and fantastic viewing angles.

A Tale of Two GPUs

This laptop features both an NVIDIA Graphics Chip, and an AMD chip, with the ability to switch between them to conserve battery, and handle different tasks. Having both is incredible for tasks such as Video Encoding and streaming, as it takes a lot of the workload away from the processor.

More Power = Better Software

I’ve been a keen advocate of Open Source Software for a long time, but after years of running with brilliant Open Source Software such as GIMP (for Image Editing) and KDENLIVE (For Video Editing) I decided that it was time to take another look at some of the new commercial software offerings for these tasks. I have switched to two incredible software alternatives in MOVAVI Video Editor, and Affinity Photo for Image Editing.

Having a new powerful workstation, along with some incredibly intuitive software, means Ingenie Designs is primed for the future.

But.... what about Gaming?

I’ll eventually get some gaming benchmarks up. I did load up the Resident Evil 2 Remake the other day. It ran flawlessly, but a mix of the fantastic Realtek Sound Chip, and the fact that the colour of the display is so good, meant that I was too scared to play for too long…

Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne is out on PC soon though! Exciting times!
